Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using any part of the MyStoryMail service (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify you of material changes by email.

2. Service description

MyStoryMail (“we”, “us”) operates at mystorymail.ai and provides a personalized bedtime story service. The Service creates personalized children's stories — including written text, illustrations, and audio narration — based on profiles you create for your children, and delivers them to your email inbox on a scheduled basis. The Service is email-first: no dedicated app download is required.

3. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age and a parent or legal guardian to create an account. By registering you confirm that you are an adult and that any child profile data you provide relates to a child in your care.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@mystorymail.ai if you suspect unauthorized use.

You may not create accounts on behalf of another person without their authorization, or use automated means to create accounts.

4. Subscriptions and billing

MyStoryMail offers a free 7-day Explorer trial and the following paid plans (billed monthly or annually):

• Story Club: $9.99/month (R189 via Paystack) or $99/year — a new personalized story every day, up to 5 children, 17 languages, growing story library.
• Story Club Plus: $16.99/month (R329 via Paystack) or $179/year — everything in Story Club, plus Storyteller audio narration, weekly downloadable storybooks and grandparent/family sharing.
• Pay-per-story: $1.99 for a single story with no subscription.
• Gift subscriptions: 3, 6 or 12 months of Story Club or Story Club Plus, gifted to a third party (from $29). Gifts do not auto-renew.

Auto-renewal: Paid subscriptions auto-renew monthly until you cancel. You authorize us to charge your payment method on each renewal date.

Upgrade/downgrade: Changes to your plan take effect immediately. Upgrades are charged on a prorated basis for the remainder of the billing period. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing period.

Cancellation: You may cancel at any time from your dashboard under Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until that date. There are no cancellation fees.

7-day money-back guarantee: If you cancel within 7 days of your very first paid subscription charge, email hello@mystorymail.ai for a full refund. After 7 days, subscription charges are non-refundable. There are no partial-month refunds. Pay-per-story charges are non-refundable once the story has been generated.

Payments: Processed by Stripe (worldwide, USD) or Paystack (Africa, local currency). We do not store card numbers. If a billing error occurs, contact us within 14 days and we will make it right.

5. Free tier

The free plan provides 7personalized stories per month at no charge, forever. Free-tier stories include an AI illustration and online reading. Audio narration, email delivery, and PDF downloads require a paid plan. We reserve the right to modify free-tier limits with 30 days' notice to free users.

6. Referral program

Active subscribers receive a unique referral code in their dashboard at /dashboard/referrals. The referral program works as follows:

• For every 3 friends who sign up and activate a paid subscription using your referral code, you earn 1 free Premium month added automatically to your account.
• There is no cap on free months you can earn through genuine referrals.
• Self-referral is not permitted. You may not use your own code on your own account.
• Referred users must be new MyStoryMail subscribers (no existing accounts).
• Referral codes and earned credits are non-transferable, have no cash value, and cannot be combined with other promotions unless stated.
• Abuse of the referral program — including fake accounts, self-referral, or any fraudulent activity — will result in immediate forfeiture of all earned credits and may result in account termination.
• We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the referral program with 14 days' notice.

7. Gift subscriptions

Gift subscriptions are purchased for the benefit of a third party and are delivered as a unique redemption code. Gift subscriptions do not auto-renew; they expire after the gifted period unless the recipient independently subscribes. Gift codes are non-transferable and have no cash value. Once redeemed, gift subscriptions are non-refundable.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to generate harmful, abusive, sexual, violent or otherwise inappropriate content through the Service.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit stories or any part of the Service.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract content from the Service.
• Abuse rate limits, circumvent usage restrictions, or create multiple free accounts to exceed free-tier limits.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, without notice or refund.

9. Intellectual property

Your stories: The stories, illustrations and narrations generated for your family are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. You may read, print, share privately, and keep them forever. You may not resell, sublicense, or publish them commercially.

Our platform: MyStoryMail retains all intellectual property rights in the Service, platform, models, software, and branding. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of our technology to you.

10. AI-generated content disclaimer

Stories are generated by artificial intelligence and reviewed by automated safety guidelines, not human editors. While the AI is configured to produce gentle, age-appropriate, calming bedtime content, automated story creation is imperfect. We recommend that parents read each story before sharing it with very young children — you know your child best. Generated content does not constitute professional advice (medical, psychological, educational or otherwise).

11. Availability and warranty disclaimer

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements or that stories will always be delivered at the exact scheduled time.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MyStoryMail and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MyStoryMail and its officers, employees and agents from any claims, losses, damages or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

14. Termination

You may close your account at any time from your dashboard. We may terminate or suspend your account immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we are required to do so by law. On termination, your access to the Service ends and we may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Notice. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including IP, limitation of liability, and governing law) will do so.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa. We encourage you to contact us first — most issues can be resolved quickly by emailing hello@mystorymail.ai.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes we will notify you by email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
